Intermountain/West

Senior Chemical Engineer
Colorado-based position for a senior chemical engineer with expertise in process design, testing, scale-up, implementation and cost-modeling.  The ideal candidate will have experience in as many of these technical areas as possible: liquid/liquid separation (solvent extraction), aqueous and multi-phase inorganic chemical dissolution and precipitation, solvent processing, general chemical-industry PFD design, work with sodium hydroxide, inorganic alkali products, chorine/hydrochloric acid, metals SX and SX/EW and more.  Must also have the ability to not only design and test, but also work a new process to commercialization - keeping an eye on the economics of such a process.

Requires a minimum of a BS in Chemical Engineering (more advanced degrees welcome!) and some training in economics/business (if not an MBA). AT LEAST 10 years of solid professional experience required.


Western U.S.

    Maintenance/Reliability Planner/Scheduler
A senior engineer with extensive process and project management in the minerals processing or very similar field (mining, industrial minerals, cement, coal/utilities, perhaps petroleum).  The person will manage all corporate engineering and project work in the Western U.S. for a large multinational company. This will include managing an engineering group.  Must be familiar with as many areas/processes as possible in: minerals processing, kilns, environmental controls, materials handling (wet and dry; mostly dry), loadouts, etc.  Must be very capable in handling budgets and personnel.


West Coast
These positions are with middle-sized operations of multi-national corporations. A lot of opportunity, plus you will quite visible - and your success will be recognized.   

    Maintenance/Reliability Planner/Scheduler:
A maintenance planner/scheduler for a set of three minerals plants and a quarry.  The position is key in the planning and scheduling of a RCM program throught the operation. Must have a technical degree in engineering plus at least 2-5 years of heavy-industry/rotating equipment (or similar) experience. The person must be a highly hands-on type; the position is not a desk job! Competitive salary and bonus. Relocation available.
 

    Production Managers

These are relatively senior positions

    Shift Supervisor/Manager
A senior-level production engineer capable of managing all facets of an industrial minerals processing plant with minimal supervision (initial training notwithstanding). Must have signficant experience in the management of a complex minerals-processing type plant (cement, complex aggregate/limestone, calcium carbonate, gypsum, similar) or similar food-processing, utility or petrochemical industries.  Management of bugets and management in a union environment required. while an engineering degree is preferred, it is not necessary if the person has enough industry experience. Position require at least 10 years of applicable experience. 

    Maintenance Management
Two positions: mid-level maintenance management in a minerals-processing and chemical operation. Must be well-versed in standard reliability-centered-maintenance methods and procedures. Able to manage a crew across several plants and report to an operations manager. Extensive experience in rotating equipment, materials transport, motors, industrial power systems, safety systems (!!) - MSHA desired.  This position can cross-over into production management or remain in maintenance. An engineering degree (Mechanical, etc) is highly preferred (required for one of the two positions).



    Production Supervisors
:

These are relatively junior-level positions

    Maintenance-oriented: Mechanical engineer or similar to start-out in the maintenance department of a minerals plant. The person should have a mechanical aptitude, some experience in mechanical design/operation of some type of manufacturing-related industry, perhaps a bit of reliability or maintenance experience. Position can lead to increasing responsibility in maintenance/reliability or directly cross-over into line-operations. Experience: 1 - 4 years. Some relocation assistance available. 

    Production-oriented: Mechanical, chemical or minerals processing engineer (or similar) to start-out in the a plant as a "production supervisor". Direct responsibility for process and management of a small group of people. The person should have a mechanical aptitude, some experience in process and/or personnel mangement in a manufacturing/industrial setting. Position can lead to increasing responsibility in operations or cross-over to maintenance/reliability or other areas of the the operation. Experience: 1 - 4 years. Some relocation assistance available.

 
    Mining Engineer:


A junior to mid-level mining engineer to be responsible for all of the short to long-range mine planning as well as day-to-day mining engineering responsibilities at the mine for an industrial minerals company. Also some corporate mining engineering responsibilities. Increasing levels of responsibillity as time goes, with a full corporate mine engineering status in a few years. Needs experience in modeling, field-management of mine engineering (surveying, road planning, ore/material blending, coordination with production for mining, etc) and more. 


    Research and Applications Development:

Laboratory manager - geochemistry: Someone to manage the geochemical analytical laboratory for an R&D/applications center. This is a low-thoughput/high-quality laboratory. The person should be degreed in chemistry, chemical engineering, geochemistry or similar, with experience in inorganic analysis using as many instruments as possible, including: XRF, XRD, SEM, ICP, AAS, physical and general chemical testing. The person needs to not only do "standard" methodological testing (i.e. by ASTM or other SOP-dictated methods), but also be able to modify/create methods to address new or unusual matrices. Must be creative, high-energy and personable. Must be interested and able to be promoted! 3 - 10 years of experience.



Corporate Applications Engineer: a chemical, mechanical or minerals processing engineer with at least some experience in minerals or chemicals plants. Chemical engineering, minerals processing or mechanical engineering (or similar) degree required. Will work with the corporate global engineering team in the optimization of processes at existing plants as well as working with the research team on scale-up of new processes. Experience in any/all of automation, chemical processes, minerals processing, etc valuable. Must be willing to and interested in travel. Must be bilingual or multi-lingual (English and something else). 1 - 5 years of experience. Competitive salary. Relocation available.


Central U.S.: Chicago, St Louis, Similar

    Sales-distributor manager
A minerals company is looking for someone to manage their distributor networks in the U.S. from the Mississippi River east to the east coast.  The person must be familiar with managing a range of distributors in the areas. Areas of expertise must include: training, providing incentive (without killing company margin), working with logistic systems, working with direct company sales people, etc. Familiarity with industrial minerals, value-added commodities, polymer/paint/coatings additives systems very useful; familiarity with industrial process and industrial/consumer liquid purification useful.  Excellent compensation and benefits. May provide some relocation.  

Texas (Houston/Dallas, similar)

    Sales-Territory Manager
Manager of the central U.S. territory (TX and LA north) for a minerals company. This company manufactures minerals products for use as functional additives and primary parts in a huge variety of heavy to medium sized industries. The position requires:
  • Knowledge of chemical products and processes.
  • Must have a technical degree!
  • Excellent technical consultative sales ability
  • Desire to move up to being a regional or national sales manager
  • Must be willing to travel to the customers - many in S. Texas and Louisiana, but significant number north

This home-based position has a competitive salary, excellent bonus plan and is with a large primary manufacturing company not a distributor.
